While on a road trip, the last place you want to be is on the side of the road. Keep reading to find out how to plan your trip like a pro!

There’s nothing I love more than packing up a day bag early in the morning and jumping into the car with a friend or two for an adventure. Road trips are a huge part of my summer, and if I can get half dozen trips under my belt before Fall rolls around, it usually means I had a successful summer!

How-to road trip like a pro

Here’s how you can road trip like a pro:

  1. If it’s an overnight or weekend getaway, plan your outfits in advance so you don’t overpack.
  2. Stock up on road snacks and water the night before, so you don’t have to waste your time by taking a detour to the market in the morning.
  3. Look over the directions before bed so you have a good idea of your trajectory.

Those are the 3 general things I do; however, the most important part of planning a road trip is making sure my car is ready. My father always had me:

    1. Check my tire pressure.
    2. Check my brakes.
    3. Make sure I have emergency products at-hand (e.g. flashlights, blankets, etc…)
    4. Change my oil before even thinking of leaving the house.

Making sure you’re starting off with a fresh oil change is super important for long rides in the summer. You don’t want to strain your car halfway through the ride! So, before road-tripping with your besties, your first stop should be at your local Canadian Tire so you can pick up Quaker State® Advanced Durability™ Motor Oil. Compared to industry standards, the Advanced Durability Motor Oil has twice the wear protection at an affordable price. In other words, it’s the perfect option for stop-and-go traffic and summer heatwaves. I mean, who wants to be stuck on the side of the road when you’re supposed to be driving down the highway with your windows down?! While you’re at it, pick up some extra blankets, flashlights, and a first aid kit—Canadian Tire is essentially your one-stop-shop for everything you need to be ready for a long trip! (They are, after all, made for life in Canada.) Please be sure to use the oil necessary for your car, as specified in your owner’s manual and check local Canadian Tire stores for availability!

No curbsides for us this summer!
